taking you to prague

Sometimes when I’m traveling I wish I could bring you all along.  I want to show you every quiet corner I see and every ray of light.  This “sometimes” happens so often that I forget to show you even just a slice of a month photographing.

So for today here is a slice. 7 frames of Prague. A mini adventure inside of a grand one. Believe me when I tell you, I wish you were here.

Fertility Vacation 3.0 // slowing down and following Mike

My world has been colorful buildings along the river, a blank winters sky, and Mike.

After the embryo transfer everything about me slowed down.  We stayed in more, I felt sleepier. Maybe I had a cold or allergies. Maybe the hormones just knock me out. Maybe the winter finally made me slower.

The last week or so has been slower and full of naps and rain but in between there is beauty. New cities and buildings and art museums. New feels like creation to me. New is allowing me to hold space for hope while I follow Mike Ofeldt around.

Investing in love & memories

When you think of planning and making decisions for your wedding there’s plenty to think about, and so many of those decisions depend on one thing: your budget. This can be overwhelming , but it’s important to know the things that you should save or splurge on without regret.

A recent survey showed that 22% of newlyweds wish they’d spent more on a photographer on their wedding day. It can seem tempting to cut corners on certain things to make everything fit into the budget that you and your love have set, but photography isn’t one of those things and I’ll tell you why.

You only get one chance

That’s it. Just one. That’s why splurging on a photographer for your big day is one of the best decisions you’ll make, besides saying “I do!” of course. A good photographer will capture your personality, emotions and share your vision in the tender moments on the big day. And that is what makes spending my days behind the lense so special. I love that every event is different because each couple is so individual in their own way.

These last forever

Time flies when you’re having fun, right? I love being able to share the stories of newlyweds because while you’ll be telling stories of your wedding day forever, you’ll truly be able to relive the moments with photographs. The cake gets eaten, the music will stop playing, but you can relive the day vicariously through photos displayed around your home.

You get what you pay for

This might be the most important for why you should splurge. This is our job, not just a hobby. We want to deliver you truly the most amazing work that we can. The shots you didn’t know we got, the frames that were set up perfectly, the smiles, the happy tears, and the sneaky kisses. Online wedding registry sites like Zola even let you put a cash fund for a photography on your registry! That’s a great way to help it fit in your budget.

So when you’re planning your wedding and get to the point of booking a photographer, I hope you see the value in splurging! We get to do what we love through our cameras and in turn get to narrate your wedding day through photos.

Dreaming of Greece

Hi wanderers,

I am Lea and am currently part of the wonderful She Wanders team as an intern. Getting this internship opportunity at She Wanders meant the world to me. I have been joining Suzanne on her journey for a month today. I have learned so incredibly much and have grown as a person as well as a photographer. The incredibly positive and loving spirit of the photos and she wanders blog that attracted me in the first place is being lived by Suzanne in every moment. I believe this is the true secret to the amazing work Suzanne creates (next to her experience and professionalism of course).

I am a current photography student and have a great love for travelling, discovering and emerging in foreign cultures. As such I was thrilled at the opportunity to go through Suzanne’s photos of her Europe adventures and would like to share my favorites with you. Don’t they just make you want to go travel? I definitely fell in love with Greece through these photos.

4 Things // every little thing she does is magic

Reading : Journey of Souls I’ve always been a tree-hugging hippie from Northern California but lately I’ve been interested in even more magical things. This is an odd duck. I’m halfway through and finding this woman’s point of view fascinating. Someone recommended I read it. although it’s fun to read something so unlike my usual choices, I still can’t figure out why they thought I should read it. Is it in the second half or will I miss the obvious?

Podcast : loa recon is a Law of Attraction focused podcast. Each episode is pretty short and so high vibe you’ll feel like you’ve just looked at posters of kittens

Shooting : Mike, Vanessa, Dan, and Jane Austin’s old neighborhood. #ilovephotography

Dreaming of: taking Jake Washington for a walk and watching him wake up -stretching and yawning in the morning

Q&A—the She Wanders magic

When clients connect with us we like to ask them what made them reach out to us. We often get the most beautiful answers. I love it when people are drawn to the emotional energy of our photos. That's what She Wanders is all about.

Q. We'd love to know what attracted you to us and our photography. When do you plan on booking a photographer for your wedding?

A. I had seen your work on at least two or three websites when searching wedding coordinators. What I love so much is the sweet, peaceful feeling that I get when I look at your photos. You can actually feel love when you look at them. We are very much in love, with each other and with our kids. We love to laugh!

Published : Coronado Destination Wedding for Candy and Sam

Love these two and they are on the Knot today.  You can read all about Candy and Sam's story on the Knot today.  I'll give you a hint it all started with a little office romance.  Love was in the air.  I'm so so grateful I had a chance to know these two beautiful people.  Spending the day with them made me feel so grateful to be in their presence.

4 Things : Out of Office - Hawaii

Hey Wanderers,

This week, Mike has been photographing some rad parties while Suzanne headed to Hawaii with her cousin to photograph some national park beauties. #CousinTrip

Photographing and filming: Volcano National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Dreaming of: A more united country and a resurgence in the civil rights movement.

WatchingGood Girls Revolt on Amazon.  What a surprising find.  It's an inspiring gem that reminds us of how far we have come.

Gazing at: My cousin Amber loves waterfalls. She has a crazy deep love affair with them.  So we have been chasing them around the island and filling our hearts with their wild beauty and strength.

Suzanne & Mike

It all goes by so fast! I am trying my hardest to stay present and enjoy every itty bit of it.Fun:A Pinterest board called BOO! - it's been fun to add entertaining ideas to it.

Photographing: Family portraits, kids in costumes and my own family.

Dreaming of: all of it; the last two crazy months of the year, production, shooting tons of portraits, my new personal projects, spending time with my family, the holidays. Right now is a wild ride and I want to stay as present as possible.

Making: I've been creating a cute little series of images of my nephew as Charlie Brown. It's been sweet to shop for his outfit, customize it, involve my family and play in Photoshop.

Hugs, Suzanne
