I hope your mom loves phototgraphy : family photo time

Momma

Before I discovered photography at 17, I was just a kid at the mercy of my family’s moods and whether or not they picked up the camera. Luckily, my mom was super creative—cool, curious, and with a camera in hand. She photographed our lives big and small, and often hired professional photographers, too.

How lucky am I to have that?
To flip through my childhood photos and see my life unfold—both candidly and professionally.
Of course, like so many moms, she’s usually behind the camera instead of in front of it. So whoever took these few photos of her, thank you. They mean the world to me.
I’m endlessly grateful for the casualness of bath time, for my stubborn refusal to put on shoes, and for those iconic Olan Mills portraits where my hair was… well, words fail me, but let’s just say: a choice was made.
Thanks, Mom. 💛
It’s because of you that I fell in love with telling family stories through photographs. Every time I photograph a family, I think about how cool they are for capturing these moments—and I always hope they’re also snapping the messy, everyday ones too.

So, if you want to be that cool parent with photos your kids will treasure—of you, of them, of life as it really is—let’s make it happen.

We offer at-home sessions for cozy, real-life storytelling, and out-and-about sessions for a little sunshine and adventure.

📸 Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment—just the honest one.

P.S. The last few images in this post are of my Aunt Susan, who hated being in photos. I used to try so hard to sneak pictures of her. Don’t be my Aunt Susan. Get in the frame—you’ll be so glad you did.

Below you will find a bit of Baby Suzanne as told by her mom, professional photographers and who ever my mom handed the camera to.

Some inspiration from designer spaces, gorgeous landscapes and at home.
