We chose SMdA because this city is everything you’d want it to be. UNESCO sites have so much charm and this one is especially vibrant and inspirational.  SMdA is widely considered the cultural capital of Mexico with its charismatic, colorful streets and lush green parks. Plus, the culture tastes as good as it feels. The city is safe, walkable, and endlessly inspiring — a photographer’s dream!

How this workshop came about
Mexico lights us up and we can’t keep it to ourselves anymore. We decided to combine our favorite things in one workshop: travel, art, and photography. We experience a clear creative reset from our culturally rich adventures together and we want to share this revival with other photographers.

FAQ

What is not included?
> Your flight is not included. The closest airport is Leon - BJX. You will need a shuttle to take you to San Miguel de Allende as it is about 2 hours away from Leon.
> Accommodation and meals are not included. SMA has great hotels and restaurants that will fit any budget. You can look at hotels within a few blocks of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.

> You must have a valid passport to enter Mexico - no visa necessary

What is included?
> 3 days full of planned activities. A sample day would be: a meet up at the Creation House for  a couple of hours when we will have creative conversations and exercises about photography, art, creative process and business. Pastries, fruits, coffee, tea included. After a lunch break  we will have an activity related to art followed by a photowalk or portrait photoshoot.
> Thursday night we will offer a little meet up/mingle to those who arrive in time and want to get to know each other a little before we officially start the workshop on Friday morning.


What should I bring?
> Passport + cash (you can exchange dollar for pesos in town, but you will need pesos for your shuttle from the airport to SMA)
> Camera (ideally) + lens, but even a phone with plenty of storage will work
> Cute outfits for when we photograph each other in our Creation House
> Comfortable shoes and clothing. Be mindful of the cobblestone streets - heels are not recommended. We will be walking a lot.
> An open heart and open mind to visit a new place, meet new people and work on your own growth alongside with other creative minds.

I have always wanted to know how to use a real camera.  I feel confident and comfortable with my iPhone but sometimes I get stuck and cannot execute what I see in my mind. Suzanne explained that she would teach me how to use light to determine how I shoot and also the technical aspects of a camera.  Her confidence sold me.  I showed up at a park and her methods completely worked. I left feeling confident and excited to try more on my own. This was a completely different feeling than past photography lessons.
