Before the baby shower

There are so many ways that I love photography.

Experimenting

Storytelling

Composition

Exploring Colors, Tones, Textures

There is so much to love.

But on this day it’s remembering.  Remembering the beautiful days and that life contains multitudes.  As someone of you may know, Mike and I did three rounds of IVF.  There were good day and sad days.  The best day was our first transfer.  We were so much younger then.  We were starry eyed and full of wonder.  It’s still one of the most beautiful days I’ve ever shared with someone.  Mike and I got in our Uber and contemplated what would happen if we had twins and what would happen with the additional embryos we made.  We hoped they could be adopted and that we could help some other couple.  Our first two embryos I named Uno and Dos.  I can’t think of them without feeling a surge of bittersweet love.

It was amazing to be there on minute one of Emmi and Alynn’s journey. I love that there are photographs of that first day.

So today as I share these with you, the part about photography I love is the way it helps us to remember. I remember young Mike and I and Uno and Dos and I remember my two beautiful friends first step.I had the honor of capturing a few images and sharing in a bit of the magic of this baby blessing ceremony. I love my friends Alynn and Emmi and it was beautiful to be a small part of their hope.
