I've got so much love for these two. Laura and Jake are the kind of people that you can tell from 200 feet away that they belong at the beach having a good time. Their wedding is coming up later this month and I have a big smile on my face. Although they only had a few months to plan it's going to be amazing. Alison Howard is on the case!
The overcast sky was no match for us. Bayley and Craig and I were determined to have a beautiful San Diego day near the beach. Bayley and Craig live in Oklahoma and are having a dream destination wedding here in San Diego in the fall. The Hotel Del is going to be the perfect backdrop for all of their friends and family to experience Coronado and I could not be happier to be their photographer. I'm super excited to see what Luxe Events, Root 75 and Brightly Designed dreams up for these two cool kids.xoxo Suzanne

I've been looking forward to meeting their friends and family for so long. I've been facebook stalking them but finally tomorrow is the big day. Hi everyone,This weekend we are all about lakes.
I am loving this cold weather. Although most of the time San Diego is 70 and sunny, sometimes it's nice to have a cold weather feel. So grab your cutest sweaters and head on over to Julian. You can usually count on the weather being cold enough to sport some winter fashion.
Consider having your engagement be a little bit of an adventure.
Hello December,Besides eating gingerbread cookies, planning parties, and watching Elf, this December means a lot to me. Shewanders made it 10 years. I have worked full time as an artist for 10 years. Do you know how many wonderful people you have to meet along the way to stay in business for 10 years? Holy cow have I been fortunate!
10 years ago I met Kaleb Scott at the Zoro Gardens in Balboa Park. He was a groomsmen at Victor and Scott's Balboa Park wedding.
He told me I would be crazy not to introduce myself to Kimberly and Jenn from CAKE. They had a booth at a bridal show for gay couples. I of course took a deep breath and introduced myself. Kimberly said she adored Kaleb and we became fast friends.
I've met so many cool people over the years.
Sometimes people reached out to me. Jenny came and introduced herself to me at my studio one day. Like Eric says: it takes 2 minutes to fall in love with Jenny.
Sometimes I reached out to them. I blog stalked Courtney on the internet and then emailed her to see if she would be my friend.
Sometimes you don't even remember how it started but you are happy it did. I don't even remember meeting Sharon, we have just always known each other somehow.
I feel really grateful to have met so many inspiring people over the years. As a photographer I stand on all of your shoulders. I'd have nothing to photograph without friends.
So not only is December our 10 year landmark, but on December 7th 5 years ago I opened a door and was met with a pair of handsome blue eyes. Mike Ofeldt's handsome blue eyes.
I have to confess when I first started my business I was mesmorized by the beauty of the moment but I didn't really know why so many people were getting married. I didn't know how to hope or dream big enough to want to marry someone. I couldn't believe that there were so many people who were willing to take such a big risk with their heart.
Being in this industry has melted my heart like the Grinch who Stole Christmas. You could say it grew 5 sizes. I always had a lot of love for friends and all the people in the world but what I was missing was hope. Year after year I photographed weddings for some of the best people anyone could ever meet. Year after year I watched their families grow. Some of my couples already have 3 kids. Some of my couples have kids that are already 8 years old. Watching their strength and love over the years gave me hope. Hope enough to fall head over heels in love with Mike and fight for us year after year and dream big enough to want to be his wife.
So this travelling photographer is blogging today a 10 year business landmark and a 5 year love landmark. Who would have ever thought.
Thanks to my amazing clients, super talented colleagues, and Mike Ofeldt for getting me this far. I'm speechless.
On top of everything else, Jenny from Luxe created this magical day for us. Sharon from Organic Elements crafted sweet bright happy flowers. Courtney from Brightly Designed made paper amazingness with peace, joy, and airplanes. Kimberly and Jenn from CAKE made the most perfect cake. Audra from Audra Rene Studio fancied me up with hair and make up, it was so exciting! Kaleb took the most beautiful pictures that make me hold my breath when I look at them. As if we weren't lucky enough. Our friends Scott and Jenny created an amazing engagement video. It was a long time dream of mine to have a cupcake fight with Mike. This whole event was more than my wildest dreams. Hanna, Zander, Kristen and Eric joined our epic battle. See more on Style Me Pretty today.
I'm humbled. Thanks friends. Thanks clients. Thanks Mike. Thanks for loving me on this journey of a lifetime. Here's to you.

Hi everyone, for those inspired by the 1960s this tip may inspire you to go back in time to find your muse for a Mad Men 60s themed engagement. The 60s prove to never go out of style as Chloe and Grant celebrated their happy moment with class.
I use to blog and then I got instagram.... Guilty. I am taking a stand today and remembering I am a blogger. So we are off to a good start with Yvonne and Brad. It took me two seconds to like this pair. I remember sitting in the interview thinking they are going to have a beautiful day. Both of them are quick to laugh and quick to smile at each other. Needless to say I was hooked. So one weekend when Yvonne was in town from San Francisco to visit Brad we met up. Mike and I had a lot of fun running around Seaport Village and eating buffalo wings. Brad picked out the red heels, awesome.
So here's to me remembering to blog and not just instagram and here's to Yvonne and Brad and their beautiful night still to come.

since feeling is first who pays any attention to the syntax of things will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool while Spring is in the world
my blood approves, and kisses are a far better fate than wisdom lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry --the best gesture of my brain is less than your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for eachother: then laugh, leaning back in my arms for life's not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis
Was it love at first sight or shall I say love at first "online" site? Jodi and Stephen met online dating. Jodi knew the minute she saw Stephen's profile that they would fall in love. They had both tried online dating for years without much success until they found each other. Jodi describes her husband as kind and gentle and fiercely intelligent-- which she finds sexy. He regularly tells her and shows her how much he loves her through his words and actions(take notes boys). Not only does Stephen have a wicked sense of humor but he loves his job analyzing DNA and on his free time, he loves playing video games. It only makes sense that Jodi was able to find someone just as well rounded as herself. Jodi, luxurious yet practical is a high-powered business woman. The quick-witted beauty who loves to travel, eat at gourmet restaurants and read, found her someone special, to laugh about anything and everything in Stephen. In fact they even surprised their friends and family with an improv comedy troupe at their wedding. There wedding was filled with jokes and quotes from tv shows and movies. Suzanne was ecstatic to find out that they had in common a favorite tv show,"The Big Bang Theory" and a favorite musical "Avenue Q"! So for those feeling discouraged about the dating world, Jodi and Stephan are a testament to the fact that you can fall in love at first "online" site!
Being part of a Church can offer a sense of community. Some consider their community their family. In the case of Seann and Scott it was their church friends who introduced the two. Their faith brought them together and their community helped foster their family. The dynamic duo love to sing, camp, hike, entertain, visit friends and partake in church activities. At their wedding 17 musicians (all of which were their friends) performed which made Seann and Scott's special day even more special. Most of their guests were friends from their church who watched them meet, fall in love, break up, get back together, get engaged and finally witness the union between Seann and Scott.Dos Besos, Katie from the Wanderers
Chloe has been planning her wedding since she was about 15 years old. She dreamed that her wedding would be romantic. Her fairy tale wedding came true in her husband's backyard in Coronado with soft colors to add to the feel. She met her prince charming at a weird t-shirt birthday party. Although he at the time had a girlfriend, Chloe fell in love with the guy dressed up in a tuxedo shirt. Chloe's boy's dinosaur pajamas must have made an impression on Grant, because he was at her doorstep roughly three months after they met. Even with distance separating the two love birds (a long distance relationship) their love transcended any obstacle they encountered. Grant proposed to Chloe at Wine Glass Bay, Tazmania, Australia and she of course said yes to his jaw line, his sense of humor and his ability to put up with her worrying (3 things Chloe loves about Grant). This couple who have an extensive squirrel figurine collection and a knack for riding their tandem will sure be having fun and lauging no matter what as long as they are in each other's company!Dos Besos,
Katie from the Wanderers
In light of the New Year, I think it appropriate to highlight a couple, Anne and Tony, who met on New Years 5 years ago. I can’t think of a better way of starting off the New Year than finding love. Dancing to pop music when no one else is home, Anne found her life partner to dance through life with. In fact, “tiny dancer” was the first song they danced to. Together they transform into two kids who love to laugh and have fun. Anne and Tony tied the knot at the Japanese Friendship Gardens. I had the lucky opportunity to help shoot this wedding alongside Suzanne and Mike and witness the beautiful bond between Anne and Tony. Anne was radiating with happiness and Tony couldn’t keep his eyes off her. The union between Anne and Tony was one big dance party. There marriage is bound to be one fantastic soundtrack! Meet Anne and Tony!Dos Besos Katie
Every morning I ask myself, through a haze of sleepiness, what am I going to wear? It's my daily conundrum. One day I will become Super Suzanne and choose my clothes the night before when I am awake and capable of making fun, creative, and hopefully functional decisions. If I lived somewhere other than San Diego I could say I was waiting to see what the weather is going to be like, but I think we can all pretty much guess that answer. In fact, I have a weather app on my iphone that has a picture of a sun and says 73°. For weeks I didn't realize that you had to click on the app for it to update, since every day was around 73° and sunny.
Anyway, back to getting dressed. Kyleen gets emails all the time asking what are great engagement shoot wardrobe ideas. Katie and I pulled some examples for you.
I adore dresses, heels, bright colors, clothes that make you look good. An engagement shoot is the perfect excuse to get a new sassy dress and be a little bit fancy or commit to your favorite pair of flip flops and plant your feet firmly in the sand socal style.
Whatever your wardrobe is good hair and make up never go out of style. Why not use your engagement session for your hair and make up trial? A few links to consider Audra Rene, Ray Thomas, Lovestruck, Lisa Marie.
Dress well my friends,
Although I have never been married, and I am no where close to being married, I cannot think of a better Christmas present than one finding their one true love at a Christmas Party. This is exactly what happened to Christine approximately 1 year, 6 months and 22 days ago! Her Christmas present arrived early when she met Matt- the man she would come to share Ice cream and Fro Yo nights with as well as Matt and Christine Errand Days (don't worry they know it's corny). I may have done the simple math by counting how long Christine and Matt have known each other, but the chemistry between the two is undeniable and they just mathematically make sense- the proof is in the numbers. They first met on December 16 and met again on March 19. They are tying the knot on July 16, 19 months to the day that they first met. Matt's birthday is April 15, and Christine's birthday is September 20. If you add their birthday's together, you arrive at the number 35. If you add the dates they met, you also arrive at the number 35. It is crazy how life plays out! I truly believe everything happens for a reason and Matt and Christine are a testament to this mantra. Their love story is as organic as the Stonyfield yogurt Suzanne ate the other day! I may only be 22 years old but Christine and Matt's story has inspired me to be your young guru and leave you with a few words to live by:Life is like a roller coaster. There are highs and lows and the ride can be fun but at times scary. We have no control where it is going and when it is going to stop. What we can control is how we approach the ride. So hold on tight, let your hair down and enjoy the ride.
I am on board and have buckled my seatbelt, and hope that someday (by someday I mean in a LONG while, but who knows what will happen) my roller coaster will bring me a similar Christmas present as Christine! Dos Besos, Katie from the Wanderers
It's Monday Fun Day and it is the 4th of July! To make matters that much more awesome, it is a B-E-A-utiful day in Sunny San Diego. Sharing Grant and Chloe's patriotic engagement shoot on this great American holiday makes sense like drinking American Beer and grilling BBQ on the 4th; so that is what we decided to do! Happy 4th of July! Be safe and Have fun! kiss, kiss -Katie from the Wanderers
Sometimes the first time I meet someone is at their photoshoot. Although, I had emailed, spoken with, and google skyped (ha that can't be a way you are suppose to say it) with Michael and Rehana before this day, I still felt surprised by their sweetness and laughter when I met them in person. I'm pretty new to video chatting (a-ha) but I'm a fan. It was fun to talk to them in their apartment in Brooklyn. M and R's excitement for the food, dancing, and family came across through the little screen. I could imagine their fusion wedding at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla. I just couldn't imagine how genuine and fun they would be in person. I guess it should be no surprise since they were referred to us from our pals Morgan and Joe who are the very definition of awesomeness.
